Wonsang Cho
Undergraduate Research Assistant - CE
Wonsang is an undergraduate student in the Lyles School of Civil Engineering. He is originally from South Korea, and moved to the United States in 2009. Prior to continuing his studies at Purdue University, he had previously lived in Georgia. His choice for civil engineering was driven by a passion to be involved in building new, efficient, and safe infrastructures. He also aims to help making the society more sustainable and benefit the people and the environment. After visiting STSRG website, he discovered a strong interest in transportation engineering, he realized many technologies and studies can be applied to the current transportation system to make it more sustainable while increasing the efficiency. Therefore, he learned that new transportation system can reduce both impact to the environment and driver’s safety. Currently, he is taking introduction to Transportation Engineering course to broaden his knowledge in transportation engineering. His main research interests include impact of autonomous vehicles on driver’s safety, impact of transportation on local societies, and road electrification. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies and soccer.
